Dip and Spread

Dip and spread mixes come in
"twin packs", which means you receive two packets of the same
flavor. Just add one packet of mix to 16 ounces (454 grams) of regular, low
fat, or fat free sour cream
or softened cream cheese
and blend well
(if you have a microwave,
15 to 20 seconds on high should soften the cheese; otherwise, let it sit at
room temperature until softened). Refrigerate for at least
one hour to allow the flavors to blend (overnight is even better). Serve
dips with potato chips, tortilla chips, pretzels, or raw vegetables. Use
dips as a delicious topping for baked potatoes, tacos, and burritos.
Dips can also be used instead of mayonnaise in chicken salad, tuna
salad, or pasta salads for a real taste treat.
Serve spreads with crackers, raw vegetables,
bagels, or rolls, or as a topping for baked potatoes. For a delicious
appetizer, spread thinly on meat slices or flour tortillas, roll tightly,
and slice. For a great tasting seafood spread, add 16 ounces (454 grams) of
chopped imitation crab meat or tiny shrimp to your finished spread. Add a packet of dry mix
to two sticks (8 ounces or 227 grams) of butter, blend well, and chill to
make a delicious spread for bread or toast (also good for seasoning cooked
or steamed vegetables).
Add a packet (or two)
of dry mix to your favorite bread recipe, whether you make
bread by hand or in a bread machine, for a delicious and unusual
